Book Review: Orson and the World's Loudest Library by Laura Gehl

Orson and the World's Loudest Library by Laura Gehl is about a boy named Orson and how the library is one of his favorite places to read. However, on a particular day, it's super noisy. NetGalley and Astra Publishing House approved my request to read this book, which I am extremely thankful about. They provided me with an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) of Orson and the World's Loudest Library for free in exchange for my honest review. I love that Laura Gehl used this book to teach a lesson that libraries are used for more than reading and research. They now are more of a community center that offers all sorts of activities including book clubs. The story was well written along with being beautifully illustrated. This children's book is geared towards kids between the ages of four and eight and grade levels of preschool through third grade. Product Review: TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner & Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo

tresemme beauty full volume prewash conditioner and beauty full volume shampooWhen I received complimentary samples of TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner and Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo from Influenster.com, I was super excited to try the products out. I waited until the weekend so I could take time with doing my hair to see how it really worked. The catch of using this particular shampoo and conditioner is that you have to "reverse your routine" by using the conditioner first and the shampoo last. To give the products a fair test, I even went out and bought full size bottles of the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner and Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo after I used the sample packages. There were some definite benefits and some definite downfalls for me.

One of the benefits of using the conditioner first was that it did make my hair feel very soft after I washed it out. It even seemed to help with my split ends. Since I don't wear product in my hair very often (gel, mousse, or hairspray), my hair tends to get extremely frizzy. By using the conditioner first, it helped cut down on the frizziness in my hair, even when it was extremely humid outside.

As far as the downfalls go, the biggest one for me was that by shampooing my hair last instead of first, was that it caused my super fine hair to get extremely tangled. Being tender headed, it hurt to comb and brush the tangles out so that I could blow dry my hair. The other downfall was that even though it was supposed to give my hair some volume, it didn't give it as much volume as their normal volume shampoo and conditioner.

Overall, I think the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner and Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo is a really good product. It just wasn't for me. I love TRESemmé products and still buy some of their other shampoos and conditioners.

Book Review: The Dare by Natasha Preston

The Dare by Natasha Preston is a young adult horror novel about Marley and her friends Atlas, Lucia, and Jesse are seniors in high school.  The senior pranks are fun and lighthearted until Rhett starts doling out dares that are more serious.  Will Marley and her friends survive? A huge thank you to NetGalley for the Advanced Readers Copy of The Dare  by Natasha Preston.  The last book I read by this author was so well written, I knew I wanted to give her latest story a try. The first thing I noticed about the story is it's reminiscent of R.L. Hidden Beneath (Maine Clambake Mystery, #11) by Barbara Ross is the story about Julia and her mother Jacqueline attending a memorial service on Chipmunk Island for Ginny, who was an old friend of Jacqueline.  When something seems off at the memorial, Julia decides to delve into the cold case of Ginny, and in the process of the investigation, a murder takes place on the island.
